About Us
How it started…
It all started with something my sister told me.
One day, my sister mentioned a video she’d watched that made a connection between the synthetic materials in women’s underwear and health concerns. I remember thinking, Wait…what?! I had never even considered that the fabric touching my body every single day was something I should be thinking about.
And if I’m being completely truthful, it scared me.
I went home and started looking at the labels in my own underwear drawer. Polyester. Nylon. Synthetic blends. Materials I had worn for years without giving them a second thought. Suddenly, I had a million questions.
I started researching fabrics and slowly replacing some of what I owned with organic cotton. Then I started looking at the rest of my closet—and that opened an entirely new rabbit hole. Why was polyester in so many things? And why did finding something made from 100% cotton sometimes feel like a scavenger hunt?
But clothing was only the beginning.
Once I started paying attention to what I was bringing into my home, I couldn’t really stop noticing. Laundry detergent. Dish soap. Cleaning products. Personal care products. Even food. Things I had bought and used for years suddenly had me turning the package around and reading the ingredient list.
And wow, was it overwhelming.
At first, I wanted to replace everything. Once you start learning about one thing, it’s very easy to look around your home and suddenly feel like everything needs to go. I definitely had moments where it felt like too much.
But over time, my perspective started to change. I realized I didn’t need a perfectly “non-toxic” home—and honestly, I’m still learning what that would even mean. I could read labels, ask questions, research ingredients and materials, and make better choices where they made sense for my family.
That’s really what The Non Toxic Momma has become for me. It’s a place to share what I’m learning, what I’m actually using, what I’m still questioning, and the swaps that have made our home feel a little more intentional—without pretending I’ve figured it all out.
So whether you’re a mom, a woman trying to make more informed choices for yourself, or you simply landed here after going down your own late-night rabbit hole, you’re welcome here.
We’re learning together.
